The company has three fundamentals: 1. to be, be social, and be informed, 2. delinearization is the key to success, 3. app everywhere.
He explained what he meant by being, being social, and being informed by saying that people are now spending more time than ever reading news. He knows it’s not easy, and it’s not monetized, but journalists should be excited about how content is out there being explored by readers and users, he said.
The second point he made was that news success factor is the same as the one for video and music. Thirdly, application eco-system is growing beyond mobile and surpassing browser one, he said.
He then showed a post about their company in a nutshell.
Their mission, Raymond explained, is “to offer the most valuable content to the broadest audience worldwide.”
Raymond showed how their product works by explaining how they have 200+ publisher’s worldwide, and they have 10,000 news per day that also go on their server with a semantic and tag engine publishing in five different languages in real time. They also offer news on 150,000 different subjects.
“And that leads to a product that is available on the mobile apps in six different countries,” he said. The countries include France, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain and the USA.
He showed a screenshot of the rankings for Mobiles Republic in the U.S, followed by a chart showing how much the average users read per month, worldwide instead of only in France.
“People read news, they want news, they are reading a book every month,” Raymond said. He emphasized his main message that they just have to provide the news to the people.
He summed up the presentation by explaining what they do that caused 250 publishers to join the company, including understanding the app world ecosystem, and the increase in their brand awareness.
The presentation turned over to a Q&A session with the audience.
A member asked about other companies being competitors, and Raymond didn’t see them as huge competitors because they have different approaches and do slightly different things concerning mobile application, but acknowledged that they are great companies and might be competitors in the future when Mobiles Republic is a bigger company.
